Frequently Asked Questions
What are the stages of drywall installation or repair?
-
If you have any old or damaged drywall, we will begin by removing it.
-
We place any necessary framing or supports for the new drywall.
-
We then measure, cut, and hang the new drywall panels. The type and thickness will depend on what is already there, or what your preference might be.
-
Next, we tape over all of the seams and applying “mud” or a compound to smooth the surface and any screw holes. The mud may take a day or two to dry.
-
Last, we will apply texture over the wall, either to match the existing texture of your wall, or a texture of your choice. We may need to sand over the texture afterward to make sure it has just the right finish.

How quickly can you start and how long will my drywall project take?
The timing of your appointment will depend on the size of your project and the season. However, we pride ourselves in starting projects quickly and working quickly, without sacrificing efficiency. We can typically begin within a week.
The length of time your project will take depends on how large your project is. For small patch jobs, we will likely be finished in 1-2 days. For larger projects, it can take a few days and up. We can always provide a time estimate before beginning work!
How should I prepare for my drywall appointment with Kings Drywall?
We encourage you to move any furniture out of the way in the areas we will be working, so we have plenty of space. We always take extensive measures to reduce the amount of dust from our work, including placing plastic sheeting over floors, windows, and furniture if need be. However, drywall is still a messy job! If you have any valuables or furniture nearby that might be affected by dust in the room, we encourage you to move them ahead of time.
We will also need an outdoor area to wash our tools (like a standard garden hose) and at least one power outlet. If you don’t have the ability to provide these, please notify us ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
Can you provide insulation or painting services?
Absolutely! Please ask us how we can help with these services via our trusted subcontractors.
